How to use WhatsApp with your travel eSIM
Keep your WhatsApp account and use travel data without confusing it with calls and SMS from your operator.

Your account and your connection are different
WhatsApp uses an internet connection and an account linked to a number. Adding a data eSIM does not itself require changing the number registered in the app. Select the new eSIM for data and check that your messages are sent over the available connection.
Avoid changing or reinstalling unnecessarily
Before traveling, make sure you can access your account and review recovery and security options. Changing phones, reinstalling the app, or registering the account again may require number verification. A data-only eSIM does not replace receiving SMS on your usual number.
Regular calls are separate
A WhatsApp call uses the internet. A call made through the phone app on your usual line may have different roaming conditions. Check call, SMS and voicemail costs with your operator; having another eSIM for data does not change those prices.
Reduce photo and video data usage
Set up automatic file downloads and wifi backups if you want to reduce data usage. Video calls also use data and depend on coverage. Save the accommodation address separately so you can access it even if there is no signal.
Sources and checks
Check your operator’s conditions and your model’s documentation. References: Apple: eSIM on trips and European Union: roaming. The plan data come from Mundi eSIM's catalog and must be confirmed before contracting.
